Banking on Women: Gender Intelligence for Banks - Moving the Needle on Gender Equality

IFC report analyzes the impact of a Pakistani bank's Gender Intelligence Training Program

International Finance Corporation report sets out results of efforts by Pakistani bank to address gender equality for both its women employees and women customers. Findings show: i) gender intelligence training led to a measurable increase in positive gender awareness among the trained population as compared to the untrained population; ii) positive effects observed among trained employees with regard to support for women at the banks and women's confidence level; iii) branches whose managers have been trained in gender intelligence outperform branches with untrained managers in terms of increased deposits by women; and iv) training needs to be part of a comprehensive strategy.

IMF working paper demonstrates benefits of female labour force participation to labour productivity growth

International Monetary Fund working paper presents empirical evidence that an increase in female labour force participation is positively associated with labour productivity growth. The government has stepped up its efforts to improve gender equality as part of its growth strategy. However, to maximize the policy outcome given a budget constraint, provision of subsidized child care should be better targeted to working parents.
